Holiday in Sydney

Juz came back from a holiday in Sydney. It has been almost four years since I left Sydney. Things in Sydney do not change much, just a few additions of shops near where I stay, more people especially Asians and more cars especially fast cars, which make Sydney a noisier place to stay.

I am glad to be able to meet up with a few university friends and some church friends. Glad to hear to they are all well and enjoying the slower pace of life in Australia compare to KL. Church kids that were studying in high schools while I was studying in Sydney are now in 2nd year of uni. Wow....

The holiday was refreshing though I spent most time at home sleeping. The weather is cooling which is really good......... :) Anyway, now is time to be back to work. But, Australia, I will be back!!

One year older

Time flies.. My age has past a quarter of century. A year older, a year wiser?? I have doubt in that saying. I still make as many mistakes as far as I remember and sometimes, those mistakes are repetitive. Hmm....

A long month...

It has been a busy month and finally I can get a chance to sit down, relax, reading newspapers and have a cup of drink without any disturbances early in the morning. Work is like a war zone this week. It has been bad but thanking God that He has been very gracious to me and sustain me throughout the month.

Indeed, last week was a very busy week at work. But it was good that it kept me doing things and not get bored. On Friday, I went to a place called Kuala Rompin in Pahang for an exhibition. It is far. It took my colleagues & I 5 hours to reach there from the heart of KL. The actual journey should only takes 3.5 hours but because the driver didnt really know the directions, we got lost. But, he was a good driver. Though the trip was very tiring and the heat from the sun is scorching on the day of exhibition, it was quite an interesting trip with many funny incidents. I can't tell you more here on my blog because it was a company trip so, I think I shall talk much about it :)

Though there is not much things that you can do in Rompin, but if you are someone enjoy forest walk, sea, fishing and seafood, it is not a bad place for a visit. But, do not expect any place for sight seeing coz you will only see rubber and oil palm trees... :)

argh............

wow, monorail wasn't a fun thing this morning. I could only get in the third train that came, which means I have waited more than half an hour. The waiting time wasn't long but people try to squeeze you that makes you angry. Morever, I do not understand why the train station actually switched off the fan at 8am in the morning in a country which is terribly hot & humid all year round. It is ok they do not have air cond in the station but why do they have to switched off the fan. It is crazy. By the time, I reached office, I felt like having another shower. Sigh................

"kiasuism" is slowly eating its' way among Malaysians...

For those who does not know what "kiasuism" is, let me explain to you this Hokkien term that has been used mainly in Asian countries eg. Malaysia and Singapore. It means 'fear of losing'. You can check Wikipedia for more explanation.

It is sad to see that more Malaysians are 'fearing to lose' and want to be first in everything. Try living in KL especially, you will understand what I am saying.

Taking for example, this morning, as my normal routine, I took Monorail (public train transport) to work, as I stepped up to the queue, there is this young fellow quickly slot in in front of me in the queue. There wasnt anyone behind me at that time and the queue wasnt long. I was the third in the line. Feeling a little frustrated and wanted to shout out 'where are all gentlemen in KL', I pray that God will calm me down on early Monday morning. When the train arrived, this young guy fellow that I have mentioned try to push another guy to get into the train. I really do not understand why he has to do that, plenty of space in the train and he was queuing way up front than many people. The funny thing is, the other guy being pushed gave the young fellow a reasonably long stare (You can't be possibly give someone a long long stare, you will be scolded by commuters waiting to get into the train). Finally, the young fellow made way for the guy to move into the train first before him.

You may say that this is only true occassionally and in a minority of Malaysians and in certain area such as city like KL. Believe me. ''Kiasuism'' is like an infectious disease now in Malaysia. It happens elsewhere besides KL also.

Pray that our current generation and generation to come will learn courtesy, patience, to slow down and think for others..........
